1. About The Gentle Coach

The Gentle Coach is a mobile wellness application designed to help you manage urges and build healthier habits through calm, non-judgmental guidance. The app is developed and operated by The Gentle Coach ("we", "us", "our").

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use The Gentle Coach. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you should have your parent or guardian's permission to use the app.

3. Your account

To use The Gentle Coach, you will need to create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for:

• Keeping your password secure and confidential
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Notifying us immediately at hello@gentlecoach.app if you suspect unauthorised access

You may not share your account with others or create accounts on behalf of someone else without their consent.

4. Acceptable use

When using The Gentle Coach, you agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app
• Interfere with the app's functionality or security
• Upload or transmit any harmful, offensive, or malicious content
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' data
• Use the app in any way that could harm yourself or others

5. Your content

Any content you enter into The Gentle Coach — including urge logs, check-ins, reflections, and plan entries — belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of your personal wellness data.

By using the app, you grant us a limited licence to store and process your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We do not share your content with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

6. The app is provided free of charge

The Gentle Coach is currently free to download and use. We reserve the right to introduce paid features or subscription plans in the future. If we do, we will give you reasonable notice before any changes take effect, and any free features you currently rely on will remain accessible or we will clearly communicate what changes.

7. Intellectual property

All content in The Gentle Coach — including the app design, text, graphics, coach personas, guidance copy, and underlying software — is owned by or licensed to The Gentle Coach and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the app without our express written permission.

8. Disclaimers

The Gentle Coach is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• We make no warranties, express or implied, about the app's reliability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose
• We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses
• We are not responsible for any outcomes resulting from your use of the app, including decisions made based on content in the app

The guidance, suggestions, and insights provided by The Gentle Coach are for general informational and self-help purposes only. They are not a replacement for professional advice.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, The Gentle Coach and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of profit, or personal injury — arising from your use of or inability to use the app.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the app shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which, for a free app, is zero).

10. Termination

You may stop using The Gentle Coach and delete your account at any time from within the app settings, or by emailing us at hello@gentlecoach.app.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email, and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
